Well just back after a cruise visiting Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Check in was relatively easy at Singapore and luggage delivered to room quickly. Balcony room on Baja floor basic but adequate. No bottles of water or bottles in room as advertised, no tea or coffee and no pictures on wall. Room attendant was fabulous and nothing was to much trouble. Bed very comfortable. Restaurants struggled to seat 6 of us. All except Vivaldi where we ate most nights. Lovely menu. Changes every day but it’s the same in all restaurants other than the ones you pay extra for. The steaks were lovely. Staff seemed to struggle daily with a my white wine and soda. Please train staff on this it’s not a difficult drink. A few annoying aspects of the cruise other than the above, staff eating in guest restaurants and drinking and taking part in bars on a night time, some childish entertainment, staff at the coffee bar who seem frustrated with you when busy and the urgency to get you off the boat on check out day. Good points, food, polite and helpful staff in shops, great choice of bars, The tours. One tip. Bangkok is advertised as 2 1/2 hours away. This is rare and it was 3 hours 45 to our first temple. A refreshment stop on Route was overcrowded and disgusting. Malaysia tour was disappointing and upsetting. The animals at the zoo were clearly distressed. Please please please stop the tour of riding the elephants at Koh Samui. The show is upsetting with baby elephants dancing to pop music and staff continually prodding the elephants ears with sticks with hooks on. READ the reviews on this awful place. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. We started with a 3 day cruise Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back and then Singapore to Kota Kinabalu, 2 stops in Vietnam and 2 stops in Thailand and then back to Singapore. As I stated in my first review, the ship was great, crew was great and our cabin Steward Catherine and dining room waiters Alexander and Katherine were outstanding. We only ate at the buffet a few times and it was what you would expect, we ate ate Sabatini's and it was very good. We saw a couple fo the the shows in the theater and they were good. Since we were already aboard there was no issue with embarkation but when we did embark a few days earlier it was quick and easy. The lectures on the ports were very informative and though we did not see them in person, we were able to watch them on the TV in our rooms. Read Less

Southeast Asia was on our bucket list. We looked at the various itineraries and chose Princess. We flew in a few days early and went to Cambodia to see Angkor wat on our own as it was also on the bucket list. It did not disappoint. If u have the opportunity to do so, do it. It was the most Amazing place and the Cambodians could not have been more friendly and helpful. We stayed at the Saem Siem Reap hotel and could not find any fault with the accommodations or the service. We booked the tour of Angkor Wat through the hotel and I can confidently say that the guide was one of the best we have had. He was ever so accommodating to our needs, we were travelling with 3 octogenarians, and gave that extra effort to ensure the whole group was well looked after.i would highly recommend the hotel and the tour. We spent 2 nights in Singapore on our own prior to boarding. If u r able to do so, I would recommend it. Singapore is a very clean and safe. The people were super friendly. We easily navigated ourselves to the various sites on the very efficient MRT (subway system). If ever we looked lost, there was always someone willing to guide us in the right direction. Marina bay sands hotel and the gardens of super trees r not to be missed! The MRT even dropped us at the new Marina Bay cruise terminal for boarding, all well signed and accessible. Embarkation went smoothly, though a bit chaotic at times since there was a second ship boarding at the same time. The facilities though large, seemed to be challenged accommodating 2 large ships at the same time. The ship, despite recent dry dock, is still in desperate need of an update. The cabin was retrofitted with large flat screen TV in the room, but the furnishings and bathrooms are showing their ages. Our cabin steward tried his best, but the air conditioning and toilet struggled . The lounges looked tired and very dated. The one nice spot was the new Internet cafe that was recently retrofitted from a bar. The internet service unfortunately was still abysmally slow and unreliable. Our waiter and his assistant tried their best, but it was difficult when the food was such a let down. It was either bland or severely over salted. The coffee was so watered down that I had no choice but to purchase a coffee card in order to get a decent cup. There were better food options at the buffet than in the dining room. We were resigned to tolerating the dining room because it was easier to find seats rather that doing endless search in the buffet. The entertainment was lacklustre. I was disappointed that the afternoon movies were shown outside rather than in the air conditioned theatre. Needless to say that we chose not to sit out in 35C heat to watch movies. The shore excursions were subpar. We were rushed around to the various sites, with little explanations and guidance. With such large groups, we were unable to keep together let alone hear the guide without some sort of headphones. Needless to say we lost valuable time waiting for lagging/lost guests. When we spoke up, the guides were either didn’t understand or indifferent. If there are opportunities to use non princess shorex, my advice is to do so. I would definitely return to SEA, but not with princess. They seemed more interested in nickel and dime everything. Read Less

A new area we had not traveled. We chose Princess, because we think they are the Best. We have cruised on the Sapphire Princess before, it's a lovely ship, well maintained. We had a great balcony cabin on the Baja deck 11 port side. Embarkation was amazing, 15 minutes from taxi to our cabin. Disembarkation was almost as speedy. Airlines should take notes on how to get bags to claim area. We chose anytime dining, we like the flexibility, our waiters were the greatest. They made our dinners every evening a special occasion. Greeted us at the door of the dining room, had our wine ready for us, recommended special dishes. Entertainment was good most nights, singers and dancers terrific. We took shore excursions with Princess at every port, something we don't normally do, however thought it would be easier this trip. Most of the guides were good, fairly easy to understand. Beautiful temples, modern buildings mixed in with ancient architecture gave us insight into very different cultures. Thailand, one of our favorites. The vibrant city/country of Singapore is incredible. We spent 3days there pre cruise, took the hop on/off bus to help get a feel for the city. Wonderful restaurants, delicious food, friendly people. An amazing trip, providing us with memories to last a lifetime. Read Less

I like to cruise and I choose Princess Cruise to provide a grade "10" holiday The crew was excellent they went beyond the call of duty to serve us. we met many new friends and exchanged cruise stories. the ship was clean and constantly being restored. The washroom needs to be updated in terms of being for more friendly and easier to use. The shows were good although there was some repetition. This showed budgetary restraints on the part of Princess. Movies under the Stars was fun as always. Food quality and menus were very good. The ports of call were very exciting and entertaining. It was a good, cool, comfortable, exciting, fun, and reasonably priced cruise. we will definitely do a princess cruise again, hopefully soon. Thank you crew, staff and management for a good cruise. We chose this cruise for it's itinerary. It started on February 15th with a 3 day cruise from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back, and then a second cruise from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu, 2 stops in Vietnam & 2 stops in Thailand, then back to Singapore for a total of 13 days. The ship is very nice and the crew is awesome. Our flights were arranged through Princess and were very good flights. We got a transfer from the airport to the cruise terminal through Princess. Embarkation was very quick and easy in Singapore. We had a Mini-suite on deck 9. Our cabin steward Catherine was great and made sure we were well taken care of. Room service most every morning was very punctual. Our dining experience was really good. We did the buffet a few times, but mostly we ate in the Savoy Dining Room and requested Alexander and Katherine as they were just so much fun and very good at what they do. We went to a couple of the shows in the theater and they were very good. We ate at Sabatini's once and the food was as expected, very good! We had very ample time in the ports to get to our shore excursions. There were a couple ports where the cruise line arranged for transportation from the ship to the gates as we were very far away. We arranged tours in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore Kota Kinabalu and Koh Samui though private tours and our disembarkation tour through Princess. We would definitely go on Princess again. Read Less

We are a couple in our early forties and chose this cruise for two reasons. Firstly, we had taken a cruise with P&O two years ago which was particularly average. Secondly, we felt that Princess did not actively encourage children due to its lack of giant water slides and variety of kids' clubs. We do like children, but prefer a relaxing holiday in the company of adults - and this opinion was shared by many passengers that we socialised with. We were not disappointed! The demographic was predominantly adults 35-70. The ship was clean, well appointed and the staff were just fantastic. We booked a mini-suite which was spotlessly clean and spacious. There was a great choice of bars and entertainment throughout the cruise and our shore excursions were efficient and represented good value. It is worth noting that the James Bond Islands tour involves almost a four hour return bus journey and the K.L. city journey is not short either. We probably would not have booked those tours had we known the travel time. The best part of this cruise was the staff. They went out of their way to be friendly and share a joke or two. The ship is so clean and well maintained with plenty to do. The drinks package is definitely good value and there is a huge variety of included cocktails to choose from. The bed and pillows were just divine! We will absolutely sail with Princess from now on and are already looking for our next destination! Read Less

So just finished the Sapphire Princess starting from Singapore for a five night cruise. So this was my Fifth cruise so think i am in a position to start giving my views. So a few things. 1) No Broadway shows, very surprised. Yes they had a few things in the theatre but no big show. 2) The staff looked tired. My first cruise where i can not even remember a member of staff name. 3) The buffet area was a massive let down. so small compared to others i have been on. 4) Good things- Movies under the stars, love the concept 5) None alcohol drinks package well worth the price. 6) No towel animals made up in the evening. Now considering that princess is meant to be a five star ship i must admit that this cruise has not left me running back to book a new cruise with Princess Read Less

Had never cruised before and wanted to guarantee hot weather in February. We booked a suite (B104 - Mallorca Suite), which turned out very nice indeed. The suite comprised a lounge, a bedroom and a bathroom which had a bath with shower above, rather than a stand-up shower, which worked out better for us. There was lots of room in all of the rooms and there were no issues with storage, as there were plenty of hangers provided (too many). As part of the suite deal, you get upgraded linen and towels, which at the time of booking, I didn't really value. However, the difference from the linen provided in other rooms was very apparent - the towels were brilliant, thick and luscious and there were plenty of them, to the point where we didn't use at least half of them each day. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, with marvellous pillows and duvet. The extended balcony space was brilliant, as it provided for a dining table and four chairs, along with full length recliners. Being at the front of the ship, directly beneath the bridge, I was concerned that things could get windy, though in reality, it was only every too windy on one evening, but even then, closing the connecting door and staying in the part with the table and chairs was perfectly fine. Our room attendant, Lemuel, was brilliant and remembered our names each time we saw him. He couldn't do enough for us. The decor of the ship is a little dated and there are places, particularly in the public spaces, where it's really showing it's age. The bars are well stocked and the food is of a very high standard, though my only caveat to that is that ll of the restaurants have the exact same menu, which is a pity, as I had kind of expected that each did it's own cuisine. We had Anytime Dining, meaning that we could attend any of the restaurants or buffets at any time, rather than having to stick to defined dining times. Having a suite entitled us to club class service in each of the restaurants, which guaranteed us a window seat and provided us with an extra choice of main course, not that we took advantage of that. We made use of the main buffet area at lunch time, as this provided the most diverse choice of dishes. It was run very efficiently and was kept constantly clean by the very attentive staff. As suite users, we got to eat breakfast in Sabatini's each morning. This was brilliant as the staff were friendly and attentive, plus it meant that we didn't have to go to the buffet area and join the mad scramble for seats. The food was always very fresh and piping hot. Sadly, the same could not be said when we booked a place there for Valentine's night dinner. The menu choices were terrible for me, as I don't eat seafood, so it was disappointing that two of the options for mains were fish based. The steak I had wasn't that great and I left it. The staff asked if I wanted anything else and were concerned that I hadn't eaten my meal, but what's the point of eating on your own when your wife has finished hers? She had one of the fish dishes, but said it was very average and didn't match the standard of the other restaurants we ate at for free. It was a waste of $19 surcharge each. Having the pre-paid drinks package proved worthwhile and decent value, but I found out that it doesn't mean unlimited drinks - on occasion, I noted that he bar staff only requested my card instead of both of our cards, which led to me being charged for two extra drinks, which were removed by customer services staff when I queried it. We didn't make use of the gym or much use of the pools, but whenever we walked past, there always seemed to be loungers available. We visited The Sanctuary at one point, but at a $20 surcharge per person, we didn't stay because we couldn't see the value. Directly beneath is a nice quiet pool with loungers and that suited us fine for an afternoon. The entertainment was a real disappointment, because other people we know who regularly go on cruises, suggested that this would be a highlight of the trip. It wasn't. I say this with two exceptions: 1) The Mr & Mrs Quiz was very funny and well presented. 2) We heard from others that the Stevie Wonder tribute was very good, but we never got to see it. The rest was bland and uninteresting. We did two shore excursions, one to the Buddhist temples and another to the elephant ride in Phuket. Both were via the ship's own excursions and neither felt particularly special or very good value. We felt uncomfortable with the elephant ride excursion, because we believed it to be an elephant sanctuary. I doubt that a sanctuary would make elephants stand on their front two legs! We soon regretted having attended this particular trip for this reason. Getting onto the ship at the start of the trip was a breeze - not because we had priority boarding, but because I misread the instructions and mistook the sailing time for the boarding time, only realising the error an hour before! We got on with 20 minutes to spare, but at least there were no queues! Disembarkation at the end of the cruise was a bit more frantic, We chose a later time as we were going to our hotel in Singapore immediately afterwards and wouldn't have been able to check in early. Everything is fine until the part where you go looking for your cases in a huge hall, with no help from the ship's staff. It was like being deserted because we were no longer spending money with them, but maybe that was partly down to our own unfamiliarity with the cruising experience. Read Less
