We went on this cruise with some of my wife's cousins, and we had a great time. Our cabin was fine, and we had a balcony so it was great to be able to look out over the water. Our cabin attendant was very nice, very professional. The staff on the ship were very friendly. I like the free style dining - there are lots of choices, and the food was very good. The entertainment at night was excellent. One of the dancing shows was phenomenal, and Lord Nil, magician/illusionist, was outstanding. Understand, that when you get to Belize, you are not going to the mainland unless you signed up for an excursion - you are actually going to an island owned by the cruise line, but the island was a lot of fun. They had a nice pool, a beach, and for a price, you could go ziplining (and it's really long extending over the water), parasailing, or you could go on a ropes course. And, of course, they had shops so you can spend some more of your hard earned cash! The next stop, Costa Maya in Mexico, offered a number of excursions. We took a 4 hour tour of Mayan ruins. Our guide, Frederico, was probably the most knowledgeable tour guide I've ever had. He seemed to know everything there was to know about the Mayan civilization. The ship had a nice fitness center with lots of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and other equipment. They also have a card room where you can go to play cards or other board games. The ship also provides some daily puzzles like Sudoku, crosswords, and trivia. The trip was definitely worth the experience. The cruise was a lot of fun, I just wish it had lasted longer. Read Less

Enjoyed the small ship of the jade. The port of Harvest Caye was nice except the beach was full of seaweed and the water was brown so we stuck to the pool. We got the cabana near the pool which was nice to have. It wasn’t busy at all, workers were friendly. Costa maya was a pleasant surprise. We rented a golf cart outside of the shopping area to go to the beac town of mahauel?. The golf cart company has a setup with a parking area and they took care of us by giving us a table and lounge chairs right in front of the beach. We stayed in room 4501. It was noisy because it’s near some mechanical room and you feel every wave hit, so not good if you’re sensitive to motion sickness. We paid for the thermal spa which was the best thing bc no one uses it. The weather at this time was amazing and the cruisers were mostly adults. We enjoyed it bc it was before the obnoxious spring breakers. Read Less

This was my first time sailing with Norwegian after three previous cruises on Royal Caribbean. Several friends wanted to go on a cruise, and someone picked this one, so we decided to give it a shot. We traveled with 5 other couples, and our Norwegian group person was very gung ho on up-selling and also lied and changed his story a few times to our friends on certain things. One of our friends called to book and he told them there were no more sail away rates left when they were still clearly listed on the website. I had the foresight to book the sail away rate online and then attach it to the group, I knew that if I called they would try to talk me into a higher rate with “free” options. At any rate, the embarkation process went smoothly despite several emails and text messages telling us to wait no until between noon and three to check in. I thought that was strange. 4 of us got there a little after 11 and there was no line. Some of out group came later and had to wait a bit. Our luggage came about 5pm so it was good that it made it before dinner. We reserved a table for our group of twelve each night in the main dining room. I would recommend reserving ahead of time, I know they have "freestyle" dining, but we saw a lot of people waiting for tables and heard that some people weren't able to get reservations once on the ship. I had a special dietary request for vegan and gluten free. They have a dedicated dietary needs person, Nashiya Ross and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. Except for some reason she thought that vegans don't eat seaweed, which is not true. Other than that, she was great. I was able to pre-order meals in the main dining room. They could work on their vegan menu a bit, but I made do. For example, their black beans contain dairy, which makes no sense at all. One night I thought I was getting a vegetarian burrito with black beans, but when it came, there were no black beans. I was told they have dairy so I couldn't have them. So I had no main protein for that meal. I had the option of ordering sauteed veggies and a baked sweet potato, which I did several nights. Also, once I got the hang of ordering, I was able to add chickpeas and tofu to meals. Overall, I was impressed with their attention to special dietary needs. One night we went to Jasmine, the included Asian restaurant and it was good. I ordered veggie sushi and it was good. Service in the dining rooms was pretty good, no complaints there. They did a good job of accommodating our large group. One of my big complaints were the smoky stairwells and the Bliss lounge was smoky. I believe the smoke came in the doors where all of the smokers hovered outside the doors and then it would come in when the doors opened. Yuck. The layout of the ship was odd. We only ate in the Garden Cafe a couple of times, it had a terrible layout. There were hardly any tables close to the buffet. We always ended up sitting way at the end by the Great Outdoors (which also had a small buffet, but not nearly as much stuff as the main buffet). I did like that they had the option of outdoor seating. If you are a tea drinker, I recommend bringing your own tea bags. They only have Lipton teas, which are not very good in my opinion. If you want better tea, you can pay $2 a cup at the Java Cafe where they have Tea Forte brand teas. The pools were very hard to find a chair near on sea days. Both days we ended up sitting two decks away on the top deck. It was ridiculous. I've seen people say that smaller ships are less crowded, but that certainly didn't seem to be the case on the Jade. Our room steward was fine. He wasn't very talkative, but did a good job attending to our room. He also made some fun towel animals. We had fun going to game shows in the Spinnaker lounge. That was probably my favorite entertainment. The shows in the Stardust Theater were pretty good. My favorite was the family night comedian. He was pretty funny. The adult night wasn't too terrible, but I really prefer more clean comedy. The illusionist and the acrobat people we're pretty good. The shows weren't on the scale of the ones on the bigger ships though. We went to Karaoke in the Bliss lounge a couple of nights and that was fun. Our first port stop was Harvest Caye, Belize. We decided to eat a late brunch and spend the afternoon in Harvest Caye since I read that the food and drinks aren’t included there. I thought about taking a ferry to Placencia, but then we decided to just go to the beach and pool. The beach was interesting, I think I read a lot of it is man made. The sand was more like crushed shells. It wasn’t crowded and we had a nice spot under an umbrella. It was a decent beach. We later went to the pool, which was pretty awesome compared to the tiny cramped pools and decks on the ship. It is a huge pool with two sides and a bridge going across. Very nice. The only drawback was that no food or drinks are included so that was a bummer. I paid $7 for a bottle of water. I should have brought one off of the ship. I would rather go to a private island where everything is included. Our stop in Costa Maya was fun, we just walked around the port, stopped in some shops and watched the local entertainment. They had some various people doing crazy things for tips. We also saw some dolphins on the way out which was neat. Grand Stirrup Caye was probably my favorite stop out of the four. We went later in the morning and didn’t have any issues getting a tender over the the island. I don’t really like having to take a tender and it would be nice to just have a pier, but it wasn’t too much hassle. It was nice that food and drinks were included. We enjoyed the buffet, I was happy to see several salads and some vegan options. I wanted to go to the taco stand, but discovered it was on the other end of where we were sitting. The beach was nice and we found a shady spot. We brought our snorkel gear and had fun snorkeling around. They have a “snorkel garden” with a few things sunk under the water to see. We saw some neat fish etc. Key West was quite the debacle, they started out with doing immigration inspections early in the morning. Some friends of ours who had excursions said they were in line for over an hour before it even moved. We waited and went later and the lines were still crazy long. The set up was terrible, the lines were outside in the sun too. We decided to wait even later to avoid the lines. When we finally got in line, we waited a while still. After getting through that mess, we then had to wait in line to get off of the boat. Since we were docked at a Navy pier, we had to take trolleys into Key West. We had to wait in line and then get a trolley. Half the day was gone by the time we actually made it to Key West. We enjoyed walking around and seeing some of the historic sites. We discovered a great gelato place. Debarkation was smooth. We carried off our own luggage so we could leave any time. We had a leisurely breakfast in the main dining room, then left around 9:30 am. The upside to the immigration inspection in Key West was that we didn’t have to go through customs in Miami. I was surprised at that, but it sure made for an easy debarkation. Overall decent cruise. I don’t know if I would sail Norwegian again, I might for the right deal. I certainly wouldn’t do a small ship again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of price and ports. We got a deal that included three speciality dining nights, internet and drink package. That was great. Our aft balcony cabin was small but just what we needed. The speciality restaurants we dined in were good (Brazilian steakhouse, Italian and Japanese). Japanese was our favorite. The other restaurants were also good. The drink package included almost all top shelf alcohol so there were plenty of options. Didn't appreciate on day 5 finding out there was a time limit on "reserving" deck chairs (long story but the chairs I had our towels on weren't "unattended" as the pool workers thought). That should be posted somewhere. It worked out fine as there were enough chairs but it was annoying. Not generally a rule breaker so would have liked to know that day 1. Lounge entertainment was poor. Of the three acts (single guy with guitar, single guy piano player, husband/wife duo) the piano player was the best. The duo was unlistenable and actually caused us to leave the lounge they were playing in. The on ship highlight was far and away the staff that worked Magnums/Mixers. Matt, Sonya and that crew were so much fun!! We spent every night more entertained by them than any act. Exceptional service and fun fun people. Would love to have them on a future cruise. Biggest issue was trying to get thru customs at Key West. Instead of going by the groups we had been assigned, they announced all Americans to go through at once. They must do a better job. The line was unbelievable. Overall a great trip though. Aside from the couple things noted above we'd cruise on the ship again without hesitation. Read Less

Went with another family on this cruise. I have cruised many lines, this by far was the worst one I've been on. The door lock was broken, to start the trip out with it took 6 people about 3 hours to fix, change, re-program our cards etc. The lights in the room were out, one they did change, the other they did not. Our toilet did not work properly. 4 times we had to call and report. The WiFi is a hoax!! My husband who mind you is an engineer, follows directions and has his masters degree, used only 9 minutes of the time we had pre paid for. He turned wifi off on his iPhone and went the next day to use it and check email, and poof! GONE!! All 250 minutes!! They would not refund that money, they would not even put it towards another package! We had to pay! IF YOU DO NOT TYPE IN LOGOUT.COM in safari you will be logged in and the minutes you have paid for will be gone!!! The cruise director, Jackie, was more impressed with himself than anything else on the ship. He was an entertainer who I imagine felt the need to talk. He gave misdirections when we had to go through customs and got everyone screwed up and angry. It was a fiasco!! I wouldn't cruise with this crew ever again. Very unorganized and the crew seemed over worked and tired. I swear only a handful smiled!!! Read Less

NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM MY HOSTESS WHICH ALWAYS SETED ME QUICKLY AND MADE SURE I HAD MY MENU THE FRIES WHERE ALWAYS TASTING LIKE THEY JUST CAME OUT OF MICO WAVE So i get the fries from 12th frist and then come and have my wings for the day. No water was offered while we waited in 80 degree temps. Read Less

I have done 2 cruises before this with Royal Caribbean. My expectations were higher because I paid a lot more money to travel on NCL. So many people told me they were top tier. I paid double than what I had previously paid for Royal but was excited for the increase in hospitality and the overall experience. I also booked a balcony room to find out what the whole hype was. Well, here's the run down: Port was Miami, Jade is an older ship that has received multiple paint jobs to cover her wrinkles. The staff were pleasant and meant well but I could tell they were weary of previous voyages. The room was just as small as a state room but had a balcony, the sliding door was broken and would not latch shut. This would prove to be one of my largest concerns and pains while trying to sleep at night when the door would rattle and open and close..... ALL night! The gym is very small and I know no one goes on a cruise to work out but I like to try and keep a little of the excess gains to a minimum. The Sports courts were outdated and the basket ball hoops where both bent beyond repair. The tennis net was ripped and torn and you had to jimmy rig it to set it up. With people trying to play soccer, basket ball and tennis on one court proved to be uneventful and usually arguments would occur within the 1st 10min of play. The buffet felt way to small as every morning we had to wait a good 6-8 min to find a seat. Game room never had cards and all games lacked certain pieces to actually play the game. Library was good with plenty of good books and magazines. The Professional Performers were sub par, but the Crew ship staff were terrible. Everything had to somehow end with a sexual innuendo or graphic crude humor. No originality and poor deliveries. The food was bland and hardly hit the spot. We went to the Sushi bar one night but it was not included, price was good and food was decent. The other specialty restaurants I heard were good but were booked out all week and the only other Specialty restaurant was the Jasmine and was a 1 come 1 serve and was over an hour wait. They did have one amazing desert that was the chocolate Midnight moose. Best ever. Our stops were: Costa Maya, Belize, Bahama's, and Key West. People, do your research on these actual stops. Belize was an island that was off of Belize, they trapped on the island and you couldn't get off. All the activities were restricted by NCL. You could only swim in a certain area, water was nasty and beaches were terrible. This was by far the worst experience of the entire trip. We paid $180 ea. for zip lining through the Jungle....? No, it was all generic crap you can go do anywhere in America. You didn't go through any jungle or vegetation. It is a huge monopoly to not get to experience any real authentic experience. Deeply disappointed. Costa Maya, need experience to see the old Mayan ruins. Bahama's same experience as Belize. Key west, sucked because they don't have an official port and you have to go through a naval yard to get in. How cruise ships are monopolizing the locations and excursions, do your homework folks. Make sure you are actually going to the destination and not an island that is owned by the cruise ships. They stink and are not authentic. They want you to spend all your money both on the ship and off. Very poor experience with NCL. Would not recommend or travel with them again. Read Less

DH and I have enjoyed every cruise we’ve taken since our first in 2007, whether with family, friends or just by ourselves. Until this time, we’ve always wished the cruise could last longer, even after a 12-night sailing. Our first time on NCL was several months ago with our six young adult kids (sons, niece and significant others). All of us had a fantastic time, so DH and I were really looking forward to this sailing. The ship was a nice size, laid out well and clean. The crew was friendly and hardworking, but there were fewer of them than needed. The officers were rarely seen, disorganized and generally seemed unconcerned with passenger comfort or convenience other than Haven guests. One big negative was a newly revised smoking policy that was unfair to both the smokers and those trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle at sea. The casino didn’t have any non-smoking areas that I found. Smoking was restricted to three small areas on open decks—forward decks 13 and 7, aft deck 7, all starboard. The walkers were forced to go between smokers at the narrowest part of deck 7!! For the record, I smoke but felt this was unfair to all passengers. Food was plentiful, but those who didn’t book specialty dining pre-cruise were out of luck unless in the Haven. Many, many unused tables on the three nights we ate in those restaurants because they were being held by Haven concierge according to a couple Haven guests. NCL purchased airport transfers and Customs clearance in Key West were both hot messes. Ship officers made the Customs process an absolute nightmare with a line that stretched twice the length of the ship!! In the hot sun. Will cruise again, but likely not with NCL. Read Less
