After boarding ship and going to our cabin the very first thing we saw was a used condom on the balcony. Then the hangers were piled on the closet floor and a used bar of soap from the previous guest was left in the shower. Those were the main things in addition to some other minor issues,,, We understand things happen and were expecting the staff to immediately handle the situation, but 12 and 15 year old children still don't understand why or what a condom is doing in our cabin. Not happy at all. Once housekeeping was called and given a chance to correct the issues the steward supervisor said someone would come clean it and just walked away. I asked him to take the condom with him, but he just left. Then I went to the guest services desk and after a 19 minute wait were greeted by the housekeeping supervisor who said they will get there to clean the room again soon. That day there were no considerations made and there was no sense of urgency to correct. Worst of all there was no closure, empathy, nor follow-up from management. It was not until the third day of our vacation that I asked about the issue at the front desk and if there was closure. Unfortunately, it took e showing the photos and the likelihood that 'd share an honest review online that I finally got the attention. In my opinion, there is not must that can be done to correct the condom found on the balcony by our children. GiGi, assistant Housekeeping Manager offered a $100 obc which we declined and they posted anyway. This was our third Norwegian cruise Getaway 2016 and Escape 2017 (RCL Oasis was 2018). Not a great start to our annual vacation. Overall, the vacation was good and even the worst cruise experience can be a great vacation. 7 great sunrises and 6 great sunsets... Friday night sunset was missed due to a dinner reservation and late departure from Nassau. The "waterfront" deck is one our favorite parts of the ship. Entertainment was good overall: Havana was "ok", Jersey Boys was very good, Hypnotist Richard Barker was awesome, and the music around the ship was good as well. Dining was "average" a best: service better than expected and food quality hit or miss. The buffet and main dining rooms were good/average food quality. The premium dining in Le Bistro and La Cucina were great. Unfortunately, Cagneys was again a bit of a let down :( It seems like there have been cuts on food costs and quality has suffered a bit. Ports and excursions were as expected. Eighth time to St Tomas and our first excursion to Megans Bay. Tortola was or third time and just walked around town a bit. Nassau has one of the prettiest sail in and away, but usually we stay on the ship in Bahamas :) Our kids 15 and 12 were very excited about the go-carts and laser tag. Unfortunately, the week passes were sold out before the sail away. We paid for a couple laps around the racetrack, but at $10 per person per 5-7 minutes was not a good value in their opinion (or mine since I paid). The real estate used for racetracks and laser tag was a sacrifice of other areas which were omitted or cut back. We will not likely choose another cruise with either go-carts or laser tag. I guess to wrap up this review, stuff happens. Sometimes people are disgusting and leave used condoms on balconies. When I purchased / reserved our seven day cruise I put my trust in Norwegian Cruise Line and their ability to clean up after disgusting people's behaviors. The worst thing about the whole thing is the lack of response, empathy, or care. Hopefully, this review and others may affect change with Norwegian and the way they handle future situations. We chose this cruise as a short getaway during Spring Break. Everything was simply beyond expectations. This was my 5th and best cruise yet. The ship overall was in excellent condition, clean, and sported a friendly atmosphere. The cabin exceed our expectations. We signed up for a TBD cabin as it was the cheapest option when we booked the cruise and we really do not care what our cabin is since we don't spend much time there. We were very pleasantly surprised!! We ended up assigned to 1202. It is an interior cabin on deck one, but it was huge! If you look at the deck plan, you can see it was an odd shaped room compared to a standard interior. I've stayed in a junior sweet and interior rooms and this was the largest cabin I have been in. We absolutely loved it! The location at a dead-end, kept it very quite from outside traffic in the hallway. We heard some hull noises maybe called by water hitting the hull, but only once or twice and it was not intrusive. No vibrations, no engine noises, just nice and quite. Dining options were excellent and we did not eat in the same place twice over the three days. The entertainment was amazing. Nono, the Cruise Director, was the best of my cruising experience. She was friendly, high energy, helpful and funny. The crowd was younger with many college and younger kids. But everyone was friendly, well mannered and fun! The shows were amazing! We partied like rock stars! We didn't do an excursion in Nassau. We just walked to the public beach, relaxed, shopped, and casually strolled around. Read Less

DW & I have been on four other cruiselines and this was our first on Carnival. We went on this one since we wanted to join a large group gathering of about 50 folks. Even though it was a four day Carnival Long Beach-Catalina Island-Ensenada-Long Beach trip from embark Monday and debark Friday, it was still a party crowd. We usually prefer a quiet, refine cruise but wanted to join the many folks we knew. Since there were many we have known for many years, the party type atmosphere worked well and we were pleasantly surprise that we enjoyed it. The cost was relatively inexpensive and we set our expectations lower and were overall happy with the cruise. The Guy's Burgers, deli, and pizza were great. The other dining venues, such as buffet and sitdown dining were disappointing. The servers often did not bring us and others what we ordered. Even request for crackers was given a response of call room server. A request to clean some chairs with food debris was met by the worker slapping the chairs with her dish towel. What was worst was that the sour cream and butter were not fresh, i.e. the potential for an upset stomach or worst. The cabin was larger than other cruiselines for the same category but the restroom had a foul odor that repeated attempts to pour water down the floor drain only partially helped. A number of folks got seasick even though they never had before on other sailings. Being a smaller ship of about 70,000 tons is part of the reason. But more likely it was the short sailing distance between the ports. Long Beach to Catalina is about 29 miles and the sailing was a leisurely 13 hours which meant say 2 miles per hour which is far too slow for the stabilizers to be effective. Also this slow speed means the wave actions will affect the ship more. The shows in the main theater were not Broadway type productions. They were just singing with related dance moves and much of the time was wasted with pulling audience members up to the stage to participate. The timing of the show comedians were too close to the main theater shows so we could not see them. The raffles at the ship stores were a big waste of time. They kept on delaying the start of the drawings and the prizes were terrible, such as a cheap shopping bag. The embark and debark were fast since for the short cruise we did carry on luggage. We visited Jamaica and grand Cayman. Both ports were amazing! Would recommend to anyone. The ship was an older ship, which we knew entering the cruise. This was our 3rd cruise so my husband and I are familiar with the embarkation procedure and the cruising experience. We had been on 1 royal Caribbean cruise and 1 carnival. Our room was in the front of the ship on deck 6. We heard banging from closet, bathroom, cabin doors allllll night and all day. We felt music thumping all night long. We were extremely irritated as this was the first time we had ever experienced this on a cruise. Shows were lacking, activites were lacking and so was space around the pool and in the pool. Our hallway often smelled of cigarettes and marijuana which made no sense because I could pinpoint which cabin the small was coming from so it was hard to understand why they were unable to find it for themselves. Now the staff on the ship was amazing. Our room was clean, dinner server was amazing and everyone else on the ship was amazing. I would just recommend avoiding this ship! I do understand it is an older ship but the noise really did destroy our peace. Read Less

This cruise was amazing, so beautiful and the staff was amazing. The children had many activities to do while older people had there own activities also. I would recommend it every time. The islands were great and the drink package oooooohhh don’t get me started on the drink package it was cheap and usfull unlimeted drink. The WiFi was good not the best but it did it’s purpose. The 4 different pools were all great and the hot tubs were great at sunset with a nice cold drink in my hand just relaxed. If you don’t try this cruise your missing out. I do wish there was a slide but that’s fine. Also with such a big ship u really don’t feel packed on the cruise. I could live on that cruise if I could. So yes try out the allure of the seas it’s worth every penny lol see ya on the flip side. Read Less

Firstly avoid Deck 14 like the plague !! We had 14148 (Spa Balcony) and it was by far the nosiest cabin I have ever stayed in - due to the main deck being above, along with ping pong tables, stairs to upper decks (external) and storing point for sun loungers in the evening - bang bang thud thud from 0600 until 2300 every night - eventually we got moved to 14210 - and a nice onboard credit - apparently no one has ever complained about the noise, but even the hotel director was somewhat surprised by the noise generated. Once moved 14210 was quieter, but didnt negate the noise from the pool deck - heavy footed people and kids running around just reveberates through the floor / ceiling. So where possible avoid DECK 14 (Haven suites are fine btw - further fwd and not under main deck area) Otherwise a great cruise, Casino was very smokey - unlike the Bliss which is totally smoke free. Food top notch - boarding was great and getting off was the quickest ever at Miami - leaving the ship to getting a taxi took no more than 15minutes !!! (british passport too) so well impressed with that. H2O nice place to chill out during sea days - plenty of loungers around the ship - but key spots reserved early on (like 6am) !! Brazilian and Cagneys speciality dining was excellent. Cruise director on this voyage was rather bland, and maybe over selling himself - struggled to understand him at times - and just didnt really have the flare and charisma as others on the the NCL ships. Finally, parts of the ship are showing wear and tear - toilets in O'sheehans were riddled with flies (Small fruit kind of ones) brought it to cleaners attention - but still there.....:-( I think its due a refurb this year (2019) so should bring it back up to scratch. Remember though DECK 14 avoid !!! You have been warned. :-) OH and i almost forgot - BURN THE FLOOR is an absolute MUST - so login to your cruise and reserve a seat or 2 now !! simply amazing. (Top tip try and get front row seat in centre) you will see why :-) Read Less

This is mainly a shore excursion review. My daughter (on spring break from college) and I did the Bufadora Kayak excursion. Rebecca and Carlos were our guides and they were great. (Jose-Luis was our driver and he was great as well, but didn't get in the water.) Nice drive out to the point, and then suited up. I recommend the wetsuits - they will keep you warm if the water is cold. Also, take Dramamine or other seasickness prevention. We had 5-6-foot swells, and when you're out in a small (even 2-person) kayak, you feel it more than in the cruise ship. We had great views of La Bufadora, far better than what is seen up top. Carlos led the way, and my daughter and I learned pretty fast how to paddle straight, how to turn, all with the help of Carlos and Rebecca. We got some great pics. If you have a waterproof camera or a waterproof sleeve for your phone, you may want to plan to take those. After paddling back in and rinsing off and changing, we headed up to the top of the Bufadora shopping street for great tacos. Then a quiet drive back to the ship, or to town to do some shopping. The cruise itself was great. I've done this particular cruise two other times, and the staff works hard to make sure everyone has fun. The weather was a little colder than we hoped, so less time for my daughter to sun on deck, but we lounged and read books in Serenity and other places on deck. We won a Thomas Kincade print at the art auction, and recommend those events as a fun thing to do. They had an egg-drop contest, and let individuals or teams build whatever they could to protect an egg dropped from the 10th deck to the 7th in the atrium. All winners won a medal. Our team used a parachute and straw design and won our medal. That was a fun part of the sea day. Shoutouts to Putu (room steward) and to Abigail and Angela, our dining room dinner staff. Highly recommend. Read Less

Looking for Spring Break cruise out of Galveston, decided to try a bigger ship. The Vista feels like a just a bigger Carnival ship with more people and same number of spots. Everything seemed more expensive from drinks to seemingly everything "new" being a fee. The show theater "Liquid Lounge" is a joke. Pretty sure one could not come up with a worse design. Very few seats actually have an "acceptable" view of the stage and performances. Also much smaller, poor column placement, no floor rise, etc. The shows were also by far the worst I've seen on any ship. I don't know that I can blame the performers though as the stage and productions themselves would be near impossible to overcome. After 3 shows we like most people we talked too just stopped going. Every single person I discussed the shows and lounge had same opinion. If you love going to shows on your cruises, definitely would skip the Vista (and Horizon - same setup apparently). CD Matt was the highlight. He was great! Staff and crew on Vista was also great, no complaints there. Food was typical, good but tending to be bland. Guys burgers awesome. Piano bar great setup and musician. Overall the ship was "good", not "great". Plenty to do, but I guess was expecting more or something new that wasn't an extra fee. All three Carnival booked excursions though were bad. Poorly organized, behind schedule, very rushed. For this alone we plan on trying another cruise line or two before returning to Carnival. They seemed to really not care. All previous trips we had only minor issues if any (same destinations). I don't know what has happened but its definitely not the same as it was. Read Less

The ship is nice, crew were good with the exception of stateroom steward who after getting his additional tip was not please so he was just ugly the last day to deal with. The biggest issue is the entertainment or lack of it. Yes they have a few cute game shows and they had a comedian one night that did the same old cruise ship jokes. But other than that if you did not want to sit and listen to music or dance there was nothing. In the good Princess days there were all kinds of things, comedians hypnosis, dueling pianos, etc etc and more than one at once. Now there is one per cruise comedian and all the rest is singing and dancing for 60 and over. It’s become a close second to Holland America we’re if you get to the dining room under your own steam you have accomplished something. Everywhere you went people complained about poor quality and lack of entertainment. Wake up Princess while others are stepping it up you are going down hill quickly Read Less

The beds in our cabin were uncomfortable and the A/C was subpar. We normally have very comfortable matrices on Carnival cruises. Public bathrooms and areas need a deep cleaning and more attention though out the cruise. Many of the deck chairs need replacing. We noticed stains and tears in the Serenity deck clam shell cushions. Staff was very friendly and attentive to guest. The activities and shows were fun. The dining room food was very good; however, the wait time was much longer than normal. Hot tubs and pools were nice. On the last day a passenger vomited in the pool. The crew skimmed it out with a net. I thought it should have been drained and refilled (or closed). I did not care for Nassau. Half Moon Cay was better than expected. It was very clean with a beautiful beach. You cannot go wrong with Jacks Shack in Grand Turk. Waterfalls in Amber Cove was our favorite activity. Read Less
